This three hour workshop will outline the inventory process of Refuge Recovery as its described within the book Refuge Recovery by Noah Levine. The workshop will consist of Buddhist teachings, meditations, writing periods, Q&A, and group discussion. The written inventory process of Refuge Recovery is one of the most important and transformative aspects of the entire program. Looking back on our history plays a pivotal role in our ability to understand addiction, its causes, its release, and the path that we must follow. We will want to get started on it right away, and should not be taken lightly. We will need to be honest, forthcoming, and diligent in the process. During this workshop we will provide support for those who have started, encouragement for those who have yet to start, discuss how to and why we would want to take inventory.Everyone is welcome to attend regardless of background or experience with addiction. From a Buddhist perspective we are all recovering from something.

Gary Sanders moved to Portland in the spring of 2016 from the Los Angeles area, where he was the founding teacher of SCV Mindfulness for over 5 years. He was empowered to lead Buddhist meditation and dharma groups by Noah Levine and Vinny Ferraro of Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society and also helped found Refuge Recovery, a Buddhist based recovery program for all addictions, which has now spread worldwide. Gary was recently asked to join the teaching staff at Portland Insight Meditation Community by Robert Beatty and the PIMC Teachers' Council. His wife and daughters continue to be his greatest teachers.
